Lacking a cell phone camera with which to make selfies, Pharaoh Amenhotep VIIIth had wall panel carved portraits prepared whenever one of his relations dropped by.  Here we see the king with his cousin Clarisse-Hotep, her husband Re-Meket and the kids.

A terrible accident occurred one notable day in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.  A pair of workers carrying items intended for the souvenir shop collided with a tea caddy.  Both attendants were trying to enter the staff elevator first and neither would yield. Needless to say, all involved were given the sack.

What the heck is that?

The Egyptian Government has finally revealed some of the new Grand Egyptian Museum interiors.  Here is a shot of the Grand Stairway leading to the new Wahoohotep exhibit area. At the base of the stairway are exhibited the pair of guardian statues that flanked the entrance into the burial chamber.

What the heck is that? November

An amazing discovery was made a few years back.  It was this place, the burial place of Imhotep.  Imhotep was the inventor of free-standing stone architecture, rubber snakes, skate boards and the Hula Hoop. The place was in great shape, even preserving the wooden roof over the front door.

Inside what has to have been the messiest pyramid burial chamber ever, Egyptologists found this intact and sealed sarcophagus.  It was the most exciting find of the year!

Exhausted after excavating and restoring the temple of Hippyhoppyhotep, Egyptologist Sydney Octavian Twee hoped no one would notice the big rock left in the side entrance.  He just didn’t have the strength to move the blessed thing.

 

Besides, he was still busy restoring the area where the sacred water buffalo was kept.
